Spunasystur = Spinning Sisters is a group of about 20 hand spinners that have come together twice a month since 2013. Most own and breed their own sheep and aim to produce the best possible fleece for their crafts. The Spinning Sisters have organised demonstrations and exhibitions of wool processing and related crafts and were the guests of honour at the renowned crafts fair Handverkshátíðinni Eyjarfjarðarsveit 2018.

The Spinning sister´s goals are:

1 – To spread the knowledge of wool processing and related crafts.

2 – To demonstrate that the locally produced wool can be used in more ways than previously and more value can be created locally.

3 – To keep alive old crafts and traditions; and at the same time explore and spread new ways to use wool.
